Maine’s Wood Bank Volunteer Opportunities

What is a Wood Bank:

 Firewood banks are community based organizations which provide free emergency and seasonal wood for heating homes. They are often run entirely by volunteers who help split, stack, and store wood for pick-up or delivery.

Please reach out to individual wood banks about opportunities prior to any volunteer activities 

DownEast Wood Bank

Every Saturday Morning 

Town: Surry, Maine

Waldo County Wood Shed

Every Saturday Morning 

Town: Searsmont is where the splitting occurs

Also need volunteers at eight drop off/pick up locations in the area

Every Saturday Morning in Spring (April - June) and Fall (Sept - November) in North Yarmouth

Community Housing Improvement Project of Central-Eastern Lincoln County (CHIP)

Various opportunities to process and deliver firewood throughout the year, 

primarily Sept.- April with two depots in Jefferson and Bristol.

Princeton Wood Bank

Work days between January and May 30. 

Tasks include replacing a splitter engine, deliveries, cut, split, and stack green hardwood into 

shelter.
